Ryan Seacrest and the OAWRS team were left in disbelief along with the rest of the country as they watched the news on Wednesday, January 6. Four people have since been confirmed dead, including one who was shot inside the U.S. Capitol, and more than a dozen police officers have since been reported injured after a mob of President Trump supporters stormed the Capitol, temporarily shutting down a vote to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s win.

“I started asking myself, ‘Where is security?’” Seacrest reflected on-air. “… How could that happen? … Your politics are your politics, but to break in and hurt people? … It was a sick feeling,” Seacrest added. “… I just couldn’t believe it.”

Hundreds of videos shared online and via the news showed protesters sieging the Capitol. In the disturbing videos, rioters tore through the building, breaking windows, attacking police, and even ransacking offices. Two pipe bombs were also left at the Republican National Committee headquarters and the Democratic National Committee headquarters.

Hours after, President Donald Trump finally conceded the election to Joe Biden via a statement issued through Dan Scavino, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications and Director of Social Media, after Trump’s Twitter was temporarily locked. "Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th,” Trump said. "I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it's only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!"
