Take This Free 30-Day Course Called #DoTheWork to Better Educate Yourself

We’re in the midst of a revolution and navigating and using and finding your voice may be challenging, and at times uncomfortable, but educating yourself and utilizing resources is where you should start.

OAWRS producer Erica shared with Ryan Seacrest on-air she’s doing just that by taking a free 30-day course provided by activist Rachel E. Cargle. The 30-day challenge, dubbed #DoTheWork, is designed to be an eye-opener and a call to action for those who seek to be allies to Black women.

“A lot of us did not know a lot of what we weren’t doing,” Erica explained on-air. “… It's really eye-opening. There’s things about it that are uncomfortable … but it’s been amazing. I’m learning to recognize where I can be better and be more aware of other people.”

Cargle, who describes herself as “building an intellectual legacy through teaching, storytelling & critical discourse,” built the course with daily prompts to help people “think critically and act tangibly in solidarity.”

For example, part one of the course includes days titled “Get Over Yourself”, “Examining Privilege”, “Coming To Terms”, “Systemic Racism” and more.

Tanya Rad shared she’s also going to take the course.

“I’m totally a part of the problem,” she shared on-air of what she's learned from reading White Fragility: Why It's So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism. “This whole time I thought I’m not the problem and I’m 100% a part of it and it’s deconstructing the way I thought about things in the past.”
