How Ariana Grande Honored Mac Miller During Her 'Sweetener Tour' Kick-Off

Ariana Grande launched "The Sweetener World Tour" on Monday (March 18) at the Union Center in Albany, New York and paid tribute to the late, great Mac Miller during the kick-off show.

Before her set, the pop titan played some of the rapper's tracks like "Dang!" as a homage to her fallen partner and the move was an intentional one that touched fans. Unfortunately, the evening did not include thank u, next cuts like "Ghostin" or "Imagine" (both which are said to be about the rapper) because the tracks are a little "too heavy" for the star to perform right now, as per TMZ. Nonetheless, she did pack her 29-song setlist with plenty of hits divided into five acts. It also featured the live debuts of "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored," "7 rings," "Bloodline," and "NASA." The tour will continue on to markets like Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Detroit and Palm Springs for this year's 20th anniversary of Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 14 and 21. After Grande stepped in to replace Kanye West after his last-minute dropout from the music festival, the pop star was forced to shuffle 10 of the tour's dates.

As you know, Miller died of an accidental drug overdose in late September and dated Grande months before she and Pete Davidson became romantically involved with one another. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that the rapper was found around noon at his San Fernando Valley home and pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were reportedly alerted by a male friend who called 911 from the star's residence. Miller died from an accidental overdose, with the toxicology report revealing that the death was a result of "mixed drug toxicity" from fentanyl and cocaine.
