Glenn Close’s 2019 Oscar Gown Weighs 42 Pounds! See the Pics

Statuesque! Glenn Close stunned at the 2019 Oscars in a gold Carolina Herrera gown, which weighed a whopping 42 pounds!

The 71-year-old Best Actress nominee arrived at the Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater on Sunday, February 24, in the custom ensemble, which featured a long cape-like train.

“You have to feel it!” Close told Ryan Seacrest on the E! red carpet. “It’s like molten gold!”

According to reports, the dress features more than three million glass bugle beads applied to an inner gown corset, which was assembled in both New York and Mumbai, India, with the help of more than 40 craftsmen.

Close is nominated for her role in The Wife. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Meg Wolitzer and follows a woman who questions her life choices as she travels to Stockholm with her husband.

“I was absolutely certain I wasn’t going to win,” Close told Ryan while recalling her win at the 2019 Golden Globes. “I try to keep my expectations extremely low so you don’t go nuts … but I’m going in there [tonight] with a lot of love.”

Close is up against Lady Gaga, Melissa McCarthy, Olivia Colman and Yalitza Aparicio for Best Actress.
