Everything You Need to Know About Woodstock 50

Weekend long summer music festivals are commonplace these days from Coachella to Bonnaroo to the iHeartRadio Music Festival.

But they really all owe a debt of gratitude to the granddaddy of summer festivals, Woodstock.

Fifty years after the iconic music and arts festival it is returning and one the original co-founders, Michael Lang, is behind it.

He tells Rolling Stone they won’t announce any acts until tickets go on sale in February, but forty artists have already inked deals.

Some contemporary acts will perform interpretations of iconic moments from the original Woodstock from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

Woodstock 50 will go down in Watkins Glen, New York August 16-18.
