Shawn Mendes' 'Lost In Japan' Video Pays Tribute To 'Lost In Translation'

Shawn Mendes' new music video for "Lost in Japan" is catching buzz for two noticeable reasons. Not only does it include an appearance from 13 Reasons Why star Alisha Boe, but the clip sees the star recreate Lost in Translation.

Released on Thursday (October 25), the almost-four minute video sees the stars pay homage to the 2003 flick as the pop heartthrob arrives for an alcohol commercial shoot in Japan. He's met by Boe, who takes him on a high-energy karaoke night out and continues on with a storyline that's similar to the film, which starred Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. "Do you got plans tonight?/ I'm a couple hundred miles from Japan, and I/ I was thinking I could fly to your hotel tonight/ 'Cause I can't get you off my mind," Mendes sings during the hook. In efforts of combining the original track and Zedd's remix, the video fittingly transitions from the standard cut into the remix after Mendes' bridge towards the end of the clip. Bonus points if you can spot the EDM heavyweight during the karaoke jam session!

Earlier this week, Mendes' fans weren't too happy when footage of the singer surfaced getting anxious as he was trying to navigate through a group of fans. While he stopped to take some photos with some of them, the 20-year-old star soon became frustrated when they continued to ask for shots. "Guys, you guys aren't listening. I'm not going to be able to get home," he told the group. Click here to see footage of that.
