Disturbed Sends Powerful Message To Fans During Album Release Party

Disturbed iHeartRadio Album Release Party

Disturbed released their new album Evolution on October 19th via Reprise/Warner Bros. Records, and celebrated with an intimate group of fans during their iHeartRadio Album Release Party in New York City. The band not only performed some of their new music, but also talked about the making of their new record during their high-energy show, and sent a powerful message to fans about helping anyone who is battling demons like addiction and depression.

Evolution is Disturbed's seventh full-length studio album, and follows 2015's Immortalized. The new LP showcases ten new songs including the previously released "Are You Ready" and "A Reason To Fight." During the making of the album, the band was influenced by bands like Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, and more, as they explained during their exclusive show.

During the Album Release Party, Disturbed performed Evolution songs including "Are You Ready" and "Reason To Fight." But, the band also performed fan favorites from previous albums like "Down With The Sickness," "The Light," "Stupify," "The Vengeful One," "Voices," "The Game," and their "Sound of Silence" cover, among a few others.

Disturbed also talked about the making of their new album Evolution during a special Q&A in between performing songs. Take a look at what they had to say about the creative process behind Evolution below.

On the classic rock influences on Evolution:

"The entire last touring cycle, the Immortalized cycle, typically Mike is the DJ in the dressing room for our pre-show ritual, and for years and years and years, it's been hard rock and heavy metal. But, the entire last Immortalized cycle, it was full of the classic era of rock bands. It was [Led] Zeppelin, it was the Eagles, it was Fleetwood Mac, Kansas, Toto. I mean, the list goes on and on. And the wonderful thing about those records is the range of dynamics on them, the range of feelings and emotions, and vibes that were expressed on them. And we wanted to be able to create something in that spirit, that took people on a musical journey on a roller coaster ride of sorts."

On why Evolution is one of the most powerful records they've ever made:

"The emotion that is inherent within the songs, not only as far as performances, but as far as their messages and their meanings is very, very blatant [and] very obvious. I think that each one of these songs on the body of the record, not just the main body, but to be perfectly honest, on the deluxe edition with the full 14 tracks, any one of them could be a hit, in my opinion. I think that they are all monsters, and they're all very, very near and dear to us. The journey that we, ourselves, took creating this record was one of liberation and experimentation, improvisation, and it was a new adventure every day. And it was one of the most fulfilling, creative experiences we've ever had. So, hopefully the power and the joy that is instilled in this record gets conveyed to each and every [fan] that buys it."

On the powerful message behind "A Reason To Fight":

"We in this country, and in this world, are dealing with an epidemic. The demon, known as addiction and depression does not play favorites. Anyone can be susceptible to the demon, anyone can fall prey to it. It's nothing to be ashamed of. It's nothing that you should hold inside, it's nothing that you should have to endure alone. And each member of the band, we've all individually suffered loss over the course of the past three years. We've lost too many of our loved ones to that demon. And in particular, I miss my friends and colleagues from our music community, from the artist community. I miss Chester [Bennington] terribly, I miss Chris [Cornell], I miss Scott [Weiland]. And, I'm sick and tired of watching so many of our loved ones succumb to this thing. So, I would encourage each and every one of you to not wait until you're at a funeral home standing in front of a casket, trying to honor the memory of one that's already gone. Get involved, intervene, be an advocate. Don't wait until it's too late. Go ahead and give the person that is struggling with that demon a reason to fight."
