Sam Smith Admits He Doesn't Like Michael Jackson

Sam Smith dared to utter the unthinkable when he haphazardly revealed his dislike for the King of Pop.

While enjoying a boat ride with fellow pop powerhouse Adam Lambert and friends to Catalina Island earlier this week, the "Too Good At Goodbyes" singer was recorded throwing shade at the late Michael Jackson, whose song "Human Nature" could be heard playing in the background.

"I don't like Michael Jackson, but this is a good song," the English singer-songwriter admitted casually in a video that was accidentally shared by Lambert, whose baffled "Oh!" can be heard before the clip abruptly cuts off.

The footage has since been removed from the American Idol star's Instagram page.

But you know what they say about the Internet: it forgets (and forgives) nothing. Soon enough, savvy social media users caught hold and re-posted the shady footage before it was taken down.

And thus, a roasting began.

"Why don’t you like Michael Jackson? Let’s argue," wrote one Twitter user. "Sam Smith doesn't like Michael Jackson. The same Sam Smith whose Bond theme sounded like Earth Song?" another added to the debacle, basically importing that some of Smith's music has, in fact, been influenced by the departed icon.

Others came to Smith's defense, sort of: "But MJ stans seriously chill...not everybody likes Michael Jackson. and who cares what a has been like Sam Smith do or don't like."

As it stands, the Grammy winner hasn't spoken on the controversy his comment has drawn, nor has he offered an explanation for his objection for MJ.

…but should he? Sound off in the comments below.
