(WENN) - Russell Brand is due to be arraigned in court later this week on a charge of criminal damage to property following a clash with a photographer in March.
The British comedian is accused of snatching a photogs iPhone and hurling it through the window of an abandoned building in New Orleans, Louisiana.
He turned himself in to police shortly after the incident and on Wednesday, the New Orleans District Attorney hit him with a misdemeanor charge.
Brand, who is not required to appear in court for the upcoming arraignment, faces up to six months in prison if convicted.
The actor previously brushed off the allegations by making a joke about the incident on his Twitter.com page, writing, "Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory."
