How Did She Meet Rob Kardashian? “I never knew how small LA was until I started to work here. We [Rob] met through friends, he knows a lot of people. We were introduced through mutual friends, then we just gradually found a lot of things in common, and we’ve stayed very, very close.” But how close is close? Rita assures Ryan, ”I’m saying close.” The singer even adds, ”I’m very proud of him.”
Is There ANY Truth To The Romance Rumors? “I can say that we do mess around a lot with other people, we make jokes. The pictures and stuff, we play around. He’s one of the closest guys in my life at the moment.”
How Did Rita Get Discovered? “I got signed to Jay-Z when I was 17, turning 18. My mom and dad had no idea who he was. I had to sing ‘99 Problems!’” What did she do to get Jay’s attention? ”I just sent him my demos, I think as soon as I met him, the next day I had a record deal. I think it was just about the connection. I’m not going to lie, when I met the ROC Nation, I just felt like this is where I was supposed to be.”
On Her Single R.I.P.: “This song was one of my first tracks I released back in Europe. I wanted it to be release here, because I thought that was just the best track that represented me when I heard this. Drake wrote it, so when he played it to me I just was like, ‘This is written for me.’ I never really take song, I don’t really have a concept or at least the knowledge of how the song is going to go. So, taking this song on, I was just 100% behind it.”
On Single ‘Shine Your Light’:“This song was one of those songs that I felt really inspires people and it’s just basically about you taking your own and shining the hell out of it.”
