John Mayer Debuts ‘Queen of California’ Music Video
The singer gives a behind-the-scenes peek in his new video.
My my my! John Mayer, we’ve missed you!
Holding us over until his vocal chords gets back in tip-top shape, John Mayer released his new music video for “Queen of California.” Mayer announced in March that he would be canceling his tour due to inflammation in his vocal chords, a condition he thought he had recovered from in 2011.
While he won’t be serenading us on stage anytime soon, it seems the guitar god has been channeling his creativity into other works. John worked with director Sam Jones in capturing a natural set, with a bit of a behind-the-scene peek towards the end.
Describing the song as a “relieving breath of fresh air,” John told NPR that the tune is about “being able to have a hopeful vibe about something again…”
Addressing his disappointment in not being able to tour and perform his new album, Mayer says there is no sense in waiting to pen the next album.
“The only thing that stops me from devolving into a puddle of tears is knowing that it’s a long life, and the greatest gift in the world is being able to create music no matter what the circumstances… I feel really vibrant as a writer at the moment and there’s no reason not to begin the next album project in the time I would have been touring,” John wrote in his fan blog.
Patience is a virtue John, and we are just as anxious to see what’s next!
