Demi Lovato Opens Up To Cosmo About Bipolar Disorder
Demi admits she was "relieved" when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder

(WENN) - Demi Lovato was "relieved" when she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, because the clinical explanation for her behavior made her feel less "crazy."
Lovato pulled out of a world tour with the Jonas Brothers and checked in to a rehab clinic after allegedly punching a back-up dancer in 2010. She spent three months seeking professional help for a number of personal problems related to an eating disorder.
Doctors eventually got to the root of her struggles and declared Lovato manic-depressive, and the 19 year old confesses she was grateful to hear there was a medical reason for her derailment.
She tells Cosmopolitan magazines July issue, "I felt relieved when I found out, like, Im not completely crazy; theres a medical reason for all of it."
And although Lovato, who recently signed on as a new judge on U.S. TV talent show The X Factor, has since been on a path towards recovery, she admits its a constant battle to stay on track.
She adds, "Its a daily thing; you dont get time off from it. And if I feel myself slipping back into old patterns, I have to ask others for help, which is hard for me to learn, because I really like doing everything on my own."
