Adam Levine Runs From The Cops in ‘Payphone’
Maroon 5 shows off their daring side in their music video for “Payphone” featuring Wiz Khalifa.
The official music video for Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa’s “Payphone” features a bloody introduction of a bruised and cut up Adam Levine who finds himself stranded under a freeway with nothing but a payphone at his side. The singer-songwriter played a banker during a robbery scenario including masked criminals played by—that’s right, his M5 bandmates!
Adam attempts to save his female coworker who appears to be his love interest. The two escape the scene, only to be misperceived as part of the pack of crooks causing an even bigger pursuit by helicopters and cop cars.
“It’s a real go-for-it, swing-for-the-fences video,” Adam told MTV. “I get brave and I steal a gun from one of the guys and try to be a bad-ass, which is weird, because I’m not a badass.” The 33-year-old had nothing but good things to say about collaborating with Wiz. “He’s just the future.” he said, “Within 30 minutes he had this incredible verse and he’d already knocked it out. That dude is really prolific and really talented.”
The pop jam topped US chart records with 493,000 downloads in one week. According to Digital Spy, they reached the highest first week single sale for a group. “Payphone” is the first single off of Maroon 5′s Overexposed out June 26.
