The wait is over, Glamberts! American Idol alum Adam Lambert released Trespassing yesterday which features a more dance pop feel. ”I don’t need no sympathy, I won’t cry and whine / Life’s my light and liberty, and I’ll shine when I wanna shine,” he croons in his title track.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Adam described the genre of his latest album. ”I’m not borrowing so much from classic rock this time,” he said, “More from disco, funk, house…Dance-oriented stuff. I want to make something that’s new that feels like it’s mixing a bunch of things together.” Rolling Stone gave the album a whopping 4 out of 5 stars and Trespassing has already hit #1 on iTunes. Adam shared his pride via Twitter: “@adamlambert Wow!! #Trespassing is sitting nice and high on the itunes chart! What a great sight to wake-up to! Thank you all for checking it out!!”
The 30-year-old is keeping busy this month swamped with events like “performances on GMA, iHeartRadio, MLB, and Idol on Thursday, then a handful of radio shows,” he said. We have your highlights of Adam’s Billboard Q&A interview where he opened up about his new music video, what it was like working with other musicians and the idea of touring.
On hints for his music video for “Never Close Our Eyes:” “We have some special effects that we’re adding…There’s a little psyfi energy to it.” Adam says his new music video will be very cinematic. “It was inspired by a couple different films….It was a fun shoot.”
On working with Queen: “I’m so honored…I can’t believe they asked me to do this,” he said. “[For] the European music awards for MTV, they asked me to come and do like a medley of songs and I was floored then.” Adam flew to London with only one day of rehearsal. “It just felt so natural and it was so easy with them.”
On touring the world: “I’ll definitely tour. I love performing live. This album was created and written with that in the back of my head the whole time,” he stated. “Every song is a song that can be performed in a number of different ways.” Adam has not announced when or what the tour is going to be, but he says he has a few ideas.
