Allison Iraheta signs a record deal

If she has the success of Chris Daughtry to look forward to, 4th place Idol Allison Iraheta has plenty to smile about.

After fans voted her off in favor of Danny Gokey, Adam Lambert, and the eventual American Idol winner, Kris Allen, fan and media blogs immediately began speculating that Allison Iraheta would be fine, thank you very much.

And now it looks as though her career is on the right track. The 17-year-old has signed a record deal with 19 Recordings and Jive Records.

The spirited teenager said in a statement, "I think I’m still in shock that this is happening. Getting to record my first album and this whole awesome experience is a dream come true!"

CEO of RCA/Jive label group Barry Weiss had nothing but great things to say about the newest member of the Jive family in the statement. He says, "Her bluesy, powerful voice, spunky attitude, and edgy star power immediately captivated us and it didn’t matter where she ranked on Idol - we knew we wanted her to join our amazing crop of young talent at Jive."

And Idol executive producer Simon Fuller also sung her praises, calling her one of Idol's all-time best. He said, "Allison is an incredible young singer. She is without a doubt one of the best teenage singers American Idol has ever discovered. We all watched Allison grow in confidence and stature as she performed each week on the show and we can only imagine how far this special girl can continue to blossom in the years ahead."

Allison's debut album is expected to be released in the fall.
